Jean-Yves Dexmier has served as one of our directors since April 5, 2007, was named Executive Chairman of the Board in October 2009, and was appointed CEO in December 2009. Dr. Dexmier served as Chief Executive and Chair of the Board of Agentis Software from 2001 to 2005. He served as Chief Executive Officer, President and Chief Financial Officer of Informix Software from 1997 to 2000. Dr. Dexmier also served as the Chief Financial Officer of Octel Corporation from 1995 to 1997. From 1994 to 1995 he served as Chief Financial Officer of Air Liquide Americas and from 1991 to 1994 he served as Chief Financial Officer of Thomson Consumer Electronics U.S. Dr. Dexmier received a B.A. in Fundamental Mathematics from Lycee Pasteur, an M.B.A. from Ecole Polytechnique and a Ph.D. in Electronics from Ecole Nationale Superieure de l'Aeronautique et de l'Espace, all located in France.

Steve Markowski joined LookSmart as Chief Financial Officer in August of 2008 and is responsible for leading the company's finance, accounting and mergers and acquisitions activities. Prior to joining LookSmart, Steve spent 17 years with Symantec Corporation, a multi-billion dollar global security and availability software and services provider, most recently as Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer. In this role, he managed a large global team of employees, and was responsible for non-revenue accounting, tax, treasury, Sarbanes Oxley, internal audit and external reporting. During this time, he was instrumental in executing and integrating over forty strategic acquisitions, including most recently, Veritas. Prior to that, he served in a variety of positions with Symantec, including Vice President of Accounting, Tax & Treasury from October 2001 to July 2005 and as Tax Director from August 1990 to June 1998. Prior to joining Symantec, Steve spent nine years with KPMG LLP, a public accounting firm, as a senior manager.

Steve holds a B.S. degree in Commerce, Accounting from Santa Clara University.

Gill Brown joined LookSmart in February of 2009 as Vice President of Advertising Network Sales. He brings over 15 years of advertising sales and sales management experience to LookSmart from radio, print, and the online space. Gill currently leads LookSmart’s Sales and Managed Services groups, directly responsible for LookSmart’s revenue development and customer service.  Prior to joining LookSmart, Gill most recently served as the Vice President of Sales, West for Tribal Fusion. From 2000 to 2007, Brown was a Director of Sales at GoTo.com, Overture Services, and Yahoo! Search Marketing where he evangelized the paid-search advertising model, and built the company's Northwest Regional Search Sales operation. Before joining Goto.com, Gill has held senior sales, and sales leadership positions with Deja.com, CMP Media, and three Northern California Radio Stations.

Gill holds a B.A. in Broadcast Communication from San Francisco State University

Bert Knorr joined LookSmart as VP, Engineering for Ad Products in June 2005.  Bert along with the engineering and product teams launched the new AdCenter and the Next Generation BI (BING). His teams also rewrote major components of the LookSmart Ad Serving platform and launched Contextual Targeting. All LookSmart engineering was consolidated under Bert’s leadership. In his current role as Vice President, Technology, Bert is responsible for Engineering, Operations, and IT. Bert brings over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and 10 years of experience managing engineering and operations for various Internet companies.  Prior to LookSmart, Bert served as VP of Operations at Lycos, Chief Information Officer at Evite, Vice President of Information Services at Wired, and Manager of Application Development for Finance Systems at Apple Computer.

Bert received an M.A. in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Political Science from University of Binghamton.
