Senior Software Engineer – Business Intelligence

LookSmart is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer I/II to join our Business Intelligence team located in San Francisco. The Senior Software Engineer I/II is responsible for developing highly tuned, custom data processing applications in Perl to support LookSmart’s high volume syndicated search platform and the data warehouse environment. The ideal candidate is a skilled system software engineer and creative technical problem-solver with strong Perl programming and database development skills and experience dealing with high volume data processing applications using distributed UNIX systems. Will be involved in all phases of the software development life cycle: analysis, design, development, validation and production support.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years’ of experience with Perl programming and oracle.
• Strong Perl and UNIX system programming skills (in Perl or C).
• Experience developing scaleable HPC applications and dealing with extremely large data sets (1 billion or more transactions per day).
• Experience in solving complex technical problems of significant scope.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing and operating Perl-based data warehousing/ETL applications against very large relational databases, especially Oracle.
• Experience in web/clickstream analytics.
• Experience with Brio, Test Automation, C/C++, UNIX admin, and Distributed Systems.
